Importance

Tammy Duckworth is important for many reasons, she paved the way for so many to come; being deployed to Operation Iraq Freedom 2004, made her one of the first women to fly combat missions in Iraq, first disabled Veteran elected to Congress breaking a stigma of disabled people not being able bodied, the first Senator born in Thailand. Duckworth is a minority who advocates for others like her because she can understand what it's like, and the first Senator to give birth while in office, at 50! breaking the stigma of having children on Senate floor, forever changing congresses view on children in the Senate Chamber.
